Hi there, I have been looking into buying a GPS unit and wondered if there really is any benefit with them?
The price of these things seem to be as expensive as an I-phone but after reading up on them they seem to have great advantages.

Some might see them as a cheat to your game and I worry that if I practice with them when it comes to matches I'll feel lost without it?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks :)

There's no problem using a GPS, it's NOT cheating. You are allowed to know how far you have left to a green/flag/hazard etc and a GPS simply speed up the process of pacing out the yardages. Of course there are some GPS's that AREN'T in the spirit of the game (those that show slope or windspeed) so make sure you get one that conforms to general use.

See now this is true and I had to choose one in the end and I think I came up trumps. I got a Golf Buddy World Platinum from golfgps.org.uk - they are £30 cheaper than anyone else online, I tried a couple of other retailers who tried putting me off them because they apparently don't offer a UK warranty, but they do?

The features are functions are ace and to me it's better than the Skycaddie my friend at the club uses!!
