Had a decent SCORE today, can't say it was the best golf I ever played. Putter was on FIRE for a while before the flames cooled.

I got invited to join a couple of guys who were playing 9 holes only. Topped my 5-wood off the first, played a decent 8-iron recovery then proceeded to pull a wedge left of the green and completely thin a wedge at shoe-spike height past the flag about 15 feet... the putt wiped it's feet before falling in for a comfortable bogey start :? Pretty shonky start to say the least!

Second was a slight improvement hitting a 5-wood then 9-iron about 15 feet short of the green. Crap putt from off the green left me a 10 footer which I sank dead weight, one more pimple and it wouldn't have made it. 2 holes down and 25 foot of putts made.

Third was a no brainer, tee shot to 20 feet, couple of putts for a standard par.

4th was standard apart from the monster 40 footer I holed for birdie! (65 foot of putts now)

5th was good but a 3 putt so that puts me bogey, par, par, birdie, bogey, 1 over.

6th was a good par 5, near the green in two, a chip and 2 putts.

7th was a peach, 8-iron to 20 feet and rolled in the birdie (85 foot of putts now)

8th was a good drive, pulled a 6-iron left then chipped to about 2 feet for tap in birdie 4.

9th was two reasonable shots and a two putt for par..... 1 under for the front 9.

10th I managed to 3 putt from 40 feet and the 11th came and went with another par.

12th I managed to overshoot the green with a punched 8-iron from 145yds, chipped back and missed a 4 footer, bogey, par, bogey had put me back to 1 over.

13th was poor, drive clipped a branch and went no more than 90yds despite the fact that I totally middled it and it was proper FLYING! Took me two further 5 woods to get near the green, chipped on and watched my put graze the hole, bogey 6, another one slides away, 2 over.

Not best pleased I block my tee shot right on 14 (not unheard of) then from the opposing fairway I hit 9-iron to 10 feet and make the birdie putt (95 foot of putts now) and back to 1 over.

15th was a wedge to 15 feet, nearly holed it but had to settle for a par.

16th was my best shot of the day, totally killed a drive with a touch of fade to end up just past the 150 posts, considering it's Winter I was pretty pleased. Hit a wedge to 20 feet and took a two putt par, still 1 over.

17th is the easiest hole on the course and played it too. 15 feet from the pin in two, nearly holed it, took a par.

18th I realised I needed a birdie for level par. I could envisage making a nice 20 footer for birdie and I was ready to do just that. Ripped a drive up there leaving me 115yds to the flag which was at the back. Punched in a 50° wedge which pitched next to the hole and span back to leave a 14 foot uphill putt - just what I had envisaged on the tee...

...missed it!

In fact I missed it 5 flippin' times! The hole was crowned more than Her Majesty herself! I missed it 3 times on the right and twice on the left despite thinking I'd holed it every time.

No wonder they are making you put £1 in the charity box if you three putt the last - it's impossible! :D Fortunately I'd left a tap in and finished shooting a fairly modest 1 over and had holed over 100 foot of putts on bobbly greens.

I'll take that! :P

Nice round James, but one over after 5???
A good golfer would be standing on the 6th one under mate.... :P :P

And then oink his way up a relatively straightforward par 5 in 8 shots and come back down to earth with a car crash type bump!
Never mind, these things are sent to try us.

Kinda looking forward to a game mid-week (I have pencilled in Wedneday and will be taking that as my day off) but a lot depends on the bloody weather.
Blowing a gale down here this morning and hosing it down. With a lot of courses around here closed due to flooding I can't see me getting a game anytime soon to be honest.
Plus my bloody arm is giving me more grief.
Went to the Doctors on Friday, she has suggested physio on it and has sent a recommendation letter to some quack or other. Should hear from them soon.
Trouble is, the pain in it has now moved up to my upper arm and shoulder because I am not using it properly. I'm going to be right cheesed off if this carries on.
