Hi Willie,

Not sure if Carl Welty (from the comments on your youtube posting) gave you any valuable feedback yet.

I'm not qualified to comment on your swing, but would urge you to seek out a decent teaching pro and get an hour with them. I believe that Michael Bennett and Andy Plummer recommend one or more pros here in the UK (my excellent club pro is one such S&T proponent). In experience the basics of the S&T swing are relatively easy to pick up, but one-on-one with a good pro is still, IMHO, the way to go :)

If that's your first try then you are a natural! :D

Contrary to what was said on your vid comments it looks like you are right over the ball to me, you are about 100th/second from hitting the ball here..... and you couldn't BE more over the ball....

What sort of ball flight are you currently getting?... and what are you looking for?

hello james thanks for comments ,my ball flight is very solid penetrating mid to high with a gentle draw,my bad shot is straight right again solid but miss 5 to 10 yards right,i am looking for some consistency ,my bad shot with old swing was comming out of posture and again ball went high right with little fade and a big loss in distance, stack and tilt seems to be a simple effective swing i have bought the dvds from bennett and plummer just waiting for them to arrive

Here's a video of Mike Bennett hitting some shots - things of note: the abbreviated follow through and how the hands are pressed forward with the short iron at address.

I'm not responsible for the background music! :geek:

Hi Wille,

If you start with your hands too close to your body then on your downswing they will have nowhere to go, probably move away from you slightly and then you might start shanking. Then there's the other option that your whole body jumps backwards out of the way, instead of just uncoiling you lose your spine angles and the consistency/power is lost.

Yes your swing needs to work to the inside but not by bringing your hands closer to your thighs at address.

Your hands should be approx 4" from your thighs at address and then you'll have some space to swing your hands into as your club approaches from the inside.

Also..... if your hands are too close at address you have to manipulate the club upwards with the arms instead of letting the natural turn take the club up on plane. The plane then gets a bit steep and the club isn't as 'layed off' as it otherwise might be.

Lot's of things to consider for just one simple thing!

Don't know if you've seen this video but here's the 'daddy' himself......
