In this article http://onpar.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/22/plenty-of-give-and-take-on-stack-and-tilt-a-swing-system/ it says :

Some top teachers do support the Stack and Tilt.

“There is merit in it for people who have trouble hitting the ball first,” said Don Hurter (No. 42 in Golf Digest's list of top American instructors). “I will use pieces of it in a lesson.”

That last part of his statement shows that he uses parts of the framework. Good. That's why it's a framework, isn't it ?

But referring to the first part of the quote, I've read other comments like this. They seem to say that S&T suits those people with a lack of co-ordination or timing to support the more typically implemented weight transfer, implying that it's a swing for people who aren't quite so capable.

This is a ridiculous point of view, surely ?! If you can achieve something as or even more efficiently & consistently with one method than another, more complex one, selecting the latter implies that you're more interested in boasting that you have mastered the more complicated method to do exactly the same thing than you are in achieving an end result. It's nuts.

Frankly, if I can get my handicap down then I don't care. At all. And if one of these instructors wants to suggest I lack co-ordination, I'll meet them at my dojo where they can test it out ;)

This may not read how it is suppose to sound. S&T teaches the golfer to hit the ball first then ground after. The less capable golfer will often have the widest / most varied dispersion on the ground. i.e. where the club is bottoming out.
Keeping the weight forward having a centred shoulder turn allows the golfer to make consistent contact with the ground thus fulfilling the first fundamental.
Hitting the ground in the same point each time.

In addition I would like to point out it is by no means a swing for any given category of golfers, e.g. young, old, good, bad etc etc.
All great players will feature pieces that may be categorised within the Stack and Tilt model.

Regards
